Keep It Simple Stupid

But Get It Right - Keap It Simple Stupid part 2

chaos footbag: Calvin Says - Keep It Simple StupidHere at team chaos some of us like to geek out on the format by which we practice.

Practice?

Yes, practice.

During the season, whenever that is in this crazy sport, we get together a couple times, or more, weekly to… practice.  By ‘we’ I mean those of us who are Team Chaos along with a few others who are not.

Perhaps I digress but you do realize that you’re either with us, by ‘us’ I mean Chaos, or… you haven’t got a freakin chance.  big surprise

Okay, By ‘practice’ I mean that on different levels of all the following - depending on your person, and including no level at all, we get together to push our game, play some big ball, hack a bit oh small ball, the wall is your friend, stretch, warm up, drill sets - spikes (consult the coach) serves - service reception - digs - bumps - zero freakin zero!

Oh yes… sometimes we go out for drinks afterwards, but only to talk some game and school our notes.

No I didn’t leave out the ‘fun’ part.  Fun is just understood and needn’t be mentioned - dig!?  I knew that you could.

Now, what’s the point of all this babble?  Recently yours truly has been the driving force behind a new rotation scheme at ‘practice’.  The system is designed to maximize the quality of game for *all* players from the newbie on up to the best we got.

Yes, I said ‘up’.  I know Berkeley freakin CA is right next store but we’re not all free love and flower power over here at Chaos in Oaktown!  We have a hierarchy… with a freakin elitest bunch of fat heads at the top who think we, I mean they, are all the friggin @$%*!, and all we, I mean they, want to do is get better while those on the bottom keep fightin like hell but gettin nowhere fast.

Stay tuned cause over the next couple days I’m going to drop some of this sarcasm, perhaps, and post a series of… posts about this new scheme, and how it’s the best thing since our last scheme, and how we’re going to change the world with it, and how practices will get even kickier, and we’ll have better chance to improve, and somehow have even more… fun - hah!

Funtastik Flickr

chaos footbag: NiceAlan's PhotosToday I was surfing the net for footbag content and I came across a few cool pics on flickr, NiceAlan’s photos, from the 2006 Funtastik Summer Classic.  Net shots no less and from the prelim rounds even!  The pics are pretty sweet!  Check them out.

The pics and their captions also reveal some of the challenges our spectators face, such as how small the net bag is.  However, it seems to me a different reaction from the footbag outsider is becoming more common.  It’s my experience over the last couple years that when people come across footbag for the first time they’re more likely to say something like - ‘how come I haven’t heard of this?’ - as apposed to what I used to hear more often - ‘what the @#%*! is that?’.

Or, perhaps the photographer was actually just attracted to the ‘photogenic couple’ smile .

Notice that NiceAlan’s Photos are in chronilogical order descending and as of this post the footbag shots are on page 2.

Chaos Footbag Now Provides RSS and ATOM Feeds

chaos footbag: Now Providing Feeds in RSS 2.0 and ATOM formatsKeeping up with Chaos Footbag just got easier.  Our site now provides 2 links, each for a syndication feed in a different format: RSS 2.0 and ATOM.  You may also get the links at the bottom of most pages on this site.

What is a syndication feed you may wonder?  Well, in short this means you now have the ability to be automatically notified, by email for example, whenver the Chaos Footbag Log is updated.  Hopefully, this makes life just a little tiny bit richer for you since you no longer need check in with Chaos, as Chaos will check in with you.

You can set this up by supplying one of the links provided, RSS 2.0 or ATOM, to a ‘feed reader’ or ‘aggregator’ service.  There are many feed readers available at little or no cost.  I use a web based reader called FeedBlitz so no download or install is necessary and the basic service is free.  I get emailed every morning with a list, including links of course, of the latest posts on the blogs and websites I follow.

Again, links to the feeds provided by chaos footbag:
RSS 2.0 or…
ATOM

Links for feed reader services:
http://www.feedblitz.com/
http://blogspace.com/rss/readers
http://www.feedreader.com/

Of course, google ‘feed reader’ or ‘aggregator’ for more.

Lastly, for more information about feeds, RSS(Really Simple Syndication), and ATOM, check out this link or this one, or do a google search.

Just Married!

Congratulations are in order!  John and Carine are Chaos #4!  At approximately 17:15, -0300 UTC standard time, last night they married during a sunset ceremony in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil.  The ceremony itself was beautiful - presided over by John’s grandfather and translated English to Portuguese by Carine’s sister Joana, complete with a firework finally.  The reception was over the top dancing and drinking all night.  They do it right in Brazil!
