Net Jam 2006
Chaos A and German A faced each other in the final match of "The War of the Worlds" this past Saturday. It was a rematch of the semifinals from the 2005 World Championships. Germany came out on top once again as Flo and Patti remained cool while facing a furious comeback attempt by PT and John in game 3. It was a great match and an awesome weekend of net action and partying.
The highlight of the weekend may have been the jam on day 2, Sunday, when official competition took a back seat to pick-up games. Many players got a chance to throw it down with people they’ve never had a chance to team with or play against.
A BIG thanks to the city of Oakland; to the Chaos crew who contributed in every way possible - mopping the floor, providing food and drink, mixing the palomas; to all the players, especially those who traveled so far; and finally to those who came out to cheer and party with us. We think the weekend was a big success and we’ll likely host an event like this next year. We’ll keep you posted.
Let The Games Begin
Interesting, no sooner do our guests arrive for a weekend of net action and Bay Area BevMos sell out of Pura Sangre. Correlated?
Welcome Patti, Flo, Phillip, Chris, Eric, Steve, and Jim. War of the Worlds starts Saturday the 18th at 11 am sharp!

War of the Worlds
USA VS Germany! Chaos VS NPR! Is it a surprise attack on Chaos’ home turf? What the f#@*! is going on? It’s only January for cryin out loud! Still, German reinforcements arrive in the form of one Florian Goetze on February 9th and Chaos will greet him with a weekend of net action on February 18th and 19th.
Chaos will also host team NPR members Dr Fly High, aka David Bernard, and Chris ‘Conan’ Seibert.
The are too many story lines to follow here with the brewing Chaos/NPR rivalry and a potential pre-season rematch of the World Semi-Final match between Chaos A and German A looming.
Let the trash talk begin and may it be backed by stellar play on the court!
Jousting On The Forum
Chaos VS NPR? Europe VS USA? Two parts trash talk and one part philosophy - A few net enthusiasts representing NPR, Chaos, and other net hotbeds from Canada to Russia debate the merits of breaking the plane. Check it out on the forum at fw (portal to a world that revolves around footbag).
What do you think? Is breaking the plane good or bad for the game?
Also, why didn’t Wulffy just continue this ridiculous debate by posting on the original thread? What a jerk! Perhaps he’s just afraid of exposing himself via those pics Bob got documenting his queen-ness.

World Championship Results - Complete and Final
Apologies for a very late final report. I was unable to access the Internet before my worlds trip came to a close and then I was on vacation and off the grid for awhile. Anyway, the nitty gritty…
Chaos had 6 players represented on 4 doubles teams, all advancing from the preliminary round, and 2 of our 4 entrants in the open singles event also advanced from pool play to bracket. Of those who advanced from prelims, our teams finished in 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 13th place out of 31 total teams, and the singles players finished in 2nd and 16th place in the 48 player field. Check the link above for complete World Championship results.
Of course, we’re covering freestyle highlights here too and the highlight of highlights for USA/Chaos is that Carol Wedemeyer, Chaos 5.1 beta, won her 7th Women’s Singles Championship in a row and in dramatic fashion.
Semi Sweet USA
(report #2 from the 2005 WFC)
Singles Net:
John Leys cruised into the semifinals of open singles net on Wednesday while Eric Wulff was unable to upset his way into the top 8.
Round two began with Eric scoring an 11–9, 11–2 victory over Vince Bradley. Next up was Andreas Wolff, this year's European Overall Champion, the winner going to the quarter finals. Eric fell behind early before coming back from a 10–4 deficit in game one, finally succumbing 12–10. The second game was less dramatic with Andreas maintaining control to advance with an 11–6 triumph.
