Chaos Seven
Here it comes and here we come
! Sunday is opening day at the 2006 WFC in Frankfurt Germany. I can’t wait! I’m wrapping up work as I type this and prepare to leave for the airport. Chaos will represent with 7 players for 7 days of intense footbag competition. Chances are we’ll be starting off the tournament with members of two teams seeded in the top 4 - Chaos #3, 4, and 5 - PT Lovern, John Leys, and Eric Wulff respectively. Here’s to hoping all our team members finish at least that well!
Of course, aside from competition we all have lots of catching up and partying to do with old friends from across the pond. There’s much more to talk about but I don’t have time right now. Don’t fret though, I’ll be back throughout the week as usual with the latest of my perspective on the competition and all that surrounds it. Surely you can hardly wait to read my updates.
Oh, and Chaos #7, Tuan Vu, will be representing on the footbag net court at the WFC for the first time in a Chaos uni. Oh wait, no he’s not. He was therein 2004. Well, I’m flying a 777 cross the pond. Hmmm, wonder how many matches it’ll take to win the doubles title? Gotta least be close to 7.
ok, sorry bout that. I am out. Finishing it off with a seven word
3 Days In Bogota
Carol and I were in Bogot kicking footbag for Postobon, a huge beverage and bottling company in Colombia. Theyre basically Pepsi Colombia.
HOLY #@&*!
That about sums it up. Now, heres a bunch of babble that may not do the experience any better justice…

Have you ever wondered how important footbag.org and ifpa are to you? Perhaps you’ve taken it for granted? I know I have.
Well, reality check is now. The site has been down since at least 9:30am PDT and I’m feeling the hurt. I’m not trash talking fw, it’s an amazing service provided at no cost to most users, and at a high cost to those who maintain it. I’m just realizing what I had - now that it’s gone. Surely it’s quite a temporary situation.
I miss you fw! When will you be back?
What do you have to say about fw being down?
Who Do I Root For Now?
7:15am San Francisco, CA, USA and Ive already ridden my bike around the city in search of a pub or cafe thats open and that has cable TV. Ive been to one breakfast cafe and a standing room only Kezar Pub before settling at the Mucky Duck for the World Cup - USA style.
World Cup USA style? Isnt that an oxymoron?

Cliche alert!
Peter Irish performed his final competitive singles freestyle routine this past Sunday at the East Coast Footbag Championships in College Park, MD; the same event where he first competed 20 years ago.
chaosfootbag.com generally reports exclusively on the happenings in the world of footbag net. However, on occasion there is a footbag event so significant it must be covered even if it is not directly related to the net discipline. This is just such an event.
Peter is the greatest competitive footbag freestyle player of his time. He set the standard for the world both in the shred circle and with his competitive routines, and I dont doubt he has somehow inspired every player of todays freestyle generation. Even after 20 years of competition and at the ripe old freestyle age of 36 he is among the best shredders in the world.

I’m sure I speak for many of the chaos crew when I say that we are still recovering from the weeks of preparation which lead up to an event such as this, not to mention the demands of the weekend itself. This much competition and celebration can really take it’s toll
. Mostly complete results are now available and I hope we can leave much of the description of the weekend’s exploits to our guests’ comments. So, if you attended The Green Cup 2006 as a spectator or as a competitor then please share your impression via the comment link below - Thank You!
What’s my take on the whole thing? Much the same as in years past except that it seems our local footbag community came together even more, pushing the event to it’s highest level yet. The level of competition was very high as always and I think everyone had an absolutely great time. We’re already brainstorming to find ways to improve for next year. Thanks to everyone who volunteered - from Monday’s judging crew, the cooks, DJs, and announcers, right on up to the tournament directors - we kicked ass this weekend!
A final congratulation to our guests of honor - Yves Archambault and Emmanuel Bouchard! They didn’t do so bad in the competition either.
