You Have No Idea

Chaos Footbag:

The event of a lifetime!

Do you kick hack?  Have you never seen the sport of footbag?  Perhaps you’ve never even heard of it.  Hacky Sack?  No, that’s just a brand and it’s hardly footbag like you will see this weekend in Oakland on Sunday night, and Golden Gate Park on Monday.  Some of the best and most passionate athletes in the world from as far away as Germany and Quebec converge on Northern California’s Bay Area this weekend to compete for the Green Cup.  All the best of the sport will be here including current and former World Champions.

Don’t let the lack of commercialism fool you.  You will find no spoiled athletes here and you will also realize there is no lack of talent or passion.  Everyone is playing for the love of the game and an extreme desire to compete and win.

Admittance to spectators is free.  Come to Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park on Monday, May 29th, Memorial Day, and share an afternoon with some of the most talented athletes in the world.  Enjoy the championship matches while you sip on a margarita or enjoy a grilled lunch on your blanket in the sun.  There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, juice, soda, margaritas, beer, etc.  All available for a modest donation which goes to support the event.

Still not convinced it’s worth your time?  Thanks to footbagnet.com you can check out this 2 minute trailor (4MB streaming).  Also, if you can’t make it but still want to support the sport please purchase this very high quality video documentary about the 2005 footbag net season.

Did I mention there will also be music and massage on site for players and spectators to enjoy.  Music is of course free and donations are asked for massage.

Green Cup 2006 - Guests Of Honor

We’re trying something a little different at the Green Cup this year.  In lieu of prize money, which has not yet been significant, Chaos is sponsoring two of the games greatest all time players and promoters.  We put allot of thought into who the Green Cup’s first guests of honor might be and it is now official - Emmanuel Bouchard and Yves Archambault.  Congratulations to them!  That means this year’s Green Cup tournament honors them for their tremendous contributions to the sport of footbag as both players and promoters.

The Green Cup 2006 is just around the corner.  Have you registered?  If not, please do so asap.  Don’t worry about payment online.  We’ll take care of that when you arrive.  See the links above.

Stay tuned for more Green Cup updates.

Ah, It's Alive!

As many may not have heard - chaosfootbag.com version 5.6.25 beta is here, finally.  What the @#$*! is beta you ask?  I don’t know but all Google’s stuff is beta and they’re making oodles of cash so this web app is beta too.  Perhaps we’ll get rich off it and then we’ll help support our great sport in a manner by which it’s hardly accustomed.

Apparently team chaos thinks it’s cool enough to be blogging - so here is our blog.  By the way, we hope for it to become your blog too.  By that I mean - in the future… once we figure this thing out… and hoping the site doesn’t get hacked all to crap before it’s truly secure (I have no clue but I can hardly get in myself so it can’t be too bad, eh?) we hope that the site may be used by anyone at all to publish little articles, pics, video, and such about footbag net events worldwide.

Wow, collaborating and sharing and yada yada.  Free lovin footbag confused (cool - an emoticon).

Sometime in the near or distant future instructions on becoming a member of this footbag net blog thing will be made available.  Heck, for all I know the instructions are actually around here somewhere already.

Okay, so beta basically means the users are now the testers of this product.  In other words, we make no gaurantees that this thing, this interactive webiste called chaosfootbag.com, actually works yet, but we think it does mostly - kind of.  So please take it for a spin and give us any feedback at all.

Net Jam 2006

Chaos A and German A faced each other in the final match of "The War of the Worlds" this past Saturday.  It was a rematch of the semifinals from the 2005 World Championships.  Germany came out on top once again as Flo and Patti remained cool while facing a furious comeback attempt by PT and John in game 3.  It was a great match and an awesome weekend of net action and partying.

The highlight of the weekend may have been the jam on day 2, Sunday, when official competition took a back seat to pick-up games.  Many players got a chance to throw it down with people they’ve never had a chance to team with or play against.

A BIG thanks to the city of Oakland; to the Chaos crew who contributed in every way possible - mopping the floor, providing food and drink, mixing the palomas; to all the players, especially those who traveled so far; and finally to those who came out to cheer and party with us.  We think the weekend was a big success and we’ll likely host an event like this next year.  We’ll keep you posted.

War of the Worlds

Germany InvadesUSA VS Germany! Chaos VS NPR! Is it a surprise attack on Chaos’ home turf? What the f#@*! is going on? It’s only January for cryin out loud! Still, German reinforcements arrive in the form of one Florian Goetze on February 9th and Chaos will greet him with a weekend of net action on February 18th and 19th.

Chaos will also host team NPR members Dr Fly High, aka David Bernard, and Chris ‘Conan’ Seibert.

The are too many story lines to follow here with the brewing Chaos/NPR rivalry and a potential pre-season rematch of the World Semi-Final match between Chaos A and German A looming.

Let the trash talk begin and may it be backed by stellar play on the court!
