The Green Cup
The 2005 Green Cup, presented by Chaos, came to a climactic conclusion yesterday at Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park as the current World Champions - Chaos no. 3 and 4, PT Lovern and John Leys, took home ‘The Cup’ by defeating the defending Green Cup Champion, Alexis Deschenes and his partner this year, Brent Stewart.
For the second year in in a row the singles final was the most exciting match on Green Cup’s Championship Monday. Kenny Shults, last year’s runner up, and Emmanuel Bouchard, the reigning World Champion, staged a classic “nobody deserves to loose” match, but in the end it was Kenny Shults pulling out the victory, thus ending “the streak” at an unprecedented 36 tournaments in a row.
The Green Cup is made possible in part by the generous support of Lagunitas Brewing, Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant, and Prokicker footbags. Many thanks to them! Most importantly, Chaos can not thank enough all those who donated their time and energy. The success of this year’s event was once again made possible by a tremendous staff that is 100% volunteer. From the line judges to the DJ… a big Chaos thanks! Lastly, Chaos thanks the players who made the trip and all those family and friends who came out to support the show. The Green Cup just wouldn’t be what it is without you.
